*If you will be using the soap around children, remember that whatever you choose to put in it will eventually come out as the soap is used up. Kids love this soap just for that reason! If you put smaller objects in your soap that could be choking hazards, please only allow children to use the soap under adult supervision.
Here's what you'll need to make these cute heart soaps:
Materials
- Wax melting pot and pitcher (melting pot not pictured)
- Clear glycerin soap (I used two sections from a 2 lb. block)
- Soap fragrance (optional)
- Small items to decorate your soap like the heart erasers I chose
- Heart mold pan
Start melting your soap in the melting pot.
Add your fragrance once the soap has almost melted down. I used a fragrance called Galactic Grape I purchased online. It smells like Hubba Bubba grape gum. Love it! Add the oil according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you do use a scent, try not to use anything with vanilla. Scents with vanilla tend to yellow glycerin soap. and you want a clear pour.
When the soap has completely melted, get ready to pour. Take your mold and pour a thin layer of soap into each of the hearts - just enough so it covers the bottom of the heart mold and put your pitcher back into the melting pot to keep the glycerin in a liquid state. Start placing the erasers into the soap.
I placed one face down in the center of the heart and two of them standing up on each side of the mold (words should face outward).
Now add one more eraser on top of the one in the middle, and then another on top of that one (you'll stack three in the middle). Make sure the eraser at the top of your mold is facing up. Get your pitcher back out of the melting pot and fill the heart all the way to the top, covering the top of the erasers.
After you let the hearts set for about an hour or more, you can pop them out. They come out super easy!
I had a blast making these little hearts.
It was fun to look at all of the different phrases.
From the side, you can see all of the other hearts showing through.
I knew how I was going to lure the kids into the bathtub that night. It wouldn't take a lot of arm twisting, that's for sure.

Hi! I want to make these for my girlfriends for Valentine's Day. Any idea where I can get the supplies in store instead of online?
Sara
Try Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I know they'll have the soap for sure!! Good luck!

Love the soap idea... for some reason can't get my soap right. Cut out lots of felt hearts, wrote conversation heart words on with paint pen, dipped in soap to make small conversation heart soaps (saw in Martha Stewart) Don't know what I'm doing wrong but I just get lumpy soap, and when I try pouring into forms soap isn't clear....I give!
Sara
Hi Maryellen, I don't think the problem is with your process, I think it may just have to do with the type of glycerin soap you're using. I used a brand called Crafter's Choice extra clear glycerin soap that ensures a smooth and clear pour. You may just want to try a different brand. Here's where I got mine: http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductDetail.aspx?CatalogID=1&GroupID=1&CategoryID=2173&ProductID=1873&ProductName=Crafters+Choice™+Extra+Clear+MP+Soap+Base+-+2+lb+Tray

Hi Sara,
About how many hearts did the 2 lbs of soap make? I may have missed it somewhere, sorry if that's the case. These are adorable and I'm super excited to try some of my own with my daughter!
Sara
It will make between 6-8 hearts, Amanda!
