Rainbow Fruit Skewers

Ok, so this snow. . .has to go. I do love all of the seasons, but the winter this year is getting to be a bit ridiculous. This is what our grill looks like right now.

I find myself taking trips to the store just to go back to the spring section and spend time with grills that have their covers off and aren’t covered in snow. Anything to get a glimpse into all of the fun that warmer weather brings.

Because right now, the view from our patio doors, just isn’t cutting it.

I’ve decided I just need to start celebrating the arrival of spring very early this year. I need to bring a bit more color into my life. I need to trade in the black and gray clothes in my closet for turquoise and lime green. I need to take the Christmas wreath off my front door and put it back in its case where it belongs.

And I needed to make these:

Rainbow fruit skewers. Perfect for any celebration. . .or even when you just need to get rid of the winter blahs. I made a few variations, but in each skewer, I made sure to incorporate every color of the rainbow:

Everyone always tells me you can’t go wrong serving fruit at a party. Here’s a little secret: I actually don’t like fruit. I LOVE veggies. I make myself eat fruit. Fruit is beautiful, fruit is colorful – fruit is good for you, and that’s why I try to like it.

I do think it’s growing on me. You know, I think I would eat more fruit if I had someone to cut it up for me and make it look, well. . .fun. These skewers actually did make me happy, and I started forgetting about what was sitting outside my patio doors.

This summer could very well be, the summer of fruit. It really does make you feel good. And if you eat a huge bowl full of it (or three skewers and counting), you don’t have to feel guilty. How many foods can you say that about?

I just want to let you know that no fruit was wasted in the shooting of these photos. I did eat the fruit. My kids ate the fruit. And we all decided that we weren’t going to let Old Man Winter get us down anymore. We’re going to do colorful things, we’re going to eat colorful things and we’re going to kick-start this season called Spring. Who’s with me?

I knew you were in! So, now that we’re friends, how ’bout you help me shovel off this patio table?

The skewers definitely were a welcome change to these drab winter colors. Can’t wait until all of the fruit is in season again! Thanks for stopping by, Shauna!

What a fun and easy recipe, that can really be used all year long (I’m in Florida so that snow you have looks quite chilly)
I think my kids would love these.
