  3. Split the batter equally into four bowls.
  4. Add red gel food coloring to one bowl, creating a rich red color.  The amount of food coloring used will vary depending on the brand.
  5. Add a small amount of pink gel food coloring to one bowl, creating a light pink color.
  6. Add pink food coloring and a small amount of red to a third bowl, creating a medium pink color.
  7. Finally, add pink and red to the last bowl, creating a dark pink color.
    Note: You
can always add more, but you can’t take coloring out.
  8. Transfer each bowl of batter into a greased 8-inch round cake pan or 8×8-inch square cake pan.
  9. Bake for 23-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Allow cakes to cool.
  11. Once cakes are cooled, crumble each cake, setting aside 2 tablespoons of each color for topping.
  12. In a medium bowl, mix whipped cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and Cool Whip until well combined.
  13. To assemble trifle, alternate each color of cake with a layer of cream.
  14. To finish, sprinkle remaining cake crumbs and Valentine sprinkles on top.
  15. Refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
