Ingredients

  • 4 cups potatoes cut into ¼” x ¼” fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ tablespoon pepper

Instructions

  • Coat potatoes with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle on the salt and pepper.
  • Air fry at 400º Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Shake basket halfway through cooking time.

Notes

  1. Consistent Sizing for Even Cooking: Aim to cut your potatoes into uniform sizes to ensure they cook evenly. This helps prevent some fries from being undercooked while others are overcooked. A thickness of ¼ inch ensures a balance between a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior.
  2. Don't Overcrowd the Basket: To achieve crispiness, it's essential not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. Arrange the potato fries in a single layer, leaving some space between them to allow hot air to circulate evenly around each fry. If necessary, cook the fries in batches.
  3. Shake for Even Crispiness: Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to promote even cooking and browning. This prevents the fries from sticking together and ensures that all sides are exposed to the hot air, resulting in uniformly crispy French fries.
