  • 6-7 beer-battered cheese curds
  • Bar-S Bun Length Frank
  • 1 tablespoon diced onions
  • 1 tablespoon sauerkraut
  • 1 tablespoon diced dill pickles
  • Ketchup
  • Hotdog bun
  • Other fixings optional

Instructions

  • Grill or boil the hotdog until warmed.
  • Place in a hotdog bun.
  • Add the ketchup, sauerkraut, pickles and onions.
  • Top with cheese curds.

Notes

  1. Cheese Curd Preparation: If using beer-battered cheese curds, ensure they are fully cooked and crispy before adding them to the hotdog. This can typically be achieved by frying or baking them according to package instructions. Alternatively, you can use fresh cheese curds and lightly bread or batter them before frying to add extra texture and flavor.
  2. Hotdog Cooking: Whether grilling or boiling the hotdog, be sure to cook it until it's thoroughly heated throughout. This ensures food safety and enhances the overall taste and texture of the hotdog. Grilling can impart a smoky flavor, while boiling can result in a juicier hotdog. Choose the method that suits your preferences.
  3. Layering Ingredients: When assembling the Wisconsin Cheese Curd Dog, consider the order of ingredients to ensure optimal flavor and texture in each bite. Placing the cheese curds on top of the other toppings helps them stay crispy and prevents them from becoming soggy too quickly. Experiment with different combinations of toppings to find the perfect balance of flavors and textures.
