8-10drops essential or fragrance oiloptional
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the aloe vera gel with the rubbing alcohol.
If preferred, you can add a couple drops of essential or fragrance oil (I didn't add any to mine).
Use a funnel to transfer the mixture into your container(s).
Squeeze the gel out of the container into the palm of one hand and rub all over the surface of both hands until completely dry.
Notes
Keep hand sanitizer out of the reach of children. If you can't find 99% rubbing alcohol, you may need to adjust the ratio above to make sure the mixture contains at least 60 percent alcohol.
Ingredient Ratio: Maintain the correct ratio of aloe vera gel to rubbing alcohol to ensure the effectiveness of your DIY hand sanitizer. The CDC recommends a sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content to effectively kill germs and bacteria.
Optional Fragrance: Enhance the sensory experience of using your hand sanitizer by adding a few drops of essential or fragrance oil. Choose oils with antimicrobial properties such as tea tree or lavender for added germ-fighting benefits, or select a scent that appeals to your preferences.
Application Technique: To properly sanitize your hands, apply a sufficient amount of sanitizer to cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until the sanitizer evaporates completely. Ensure thorough coverage, including between fingers and under nails, for maximum effectiveness.
