These Sweet BBQ Pork Chops definitely hit the spot. They are the moistest, most flavorful chops ever. The best part? All of the ingredients used to make them are very common and can be found in your pantry or refrigerator at any time!
In a small bowl mix together the chopped onion, brown sugar, ketchup, honey and BBQ sauce and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat about a tablespoon of olive oil and brown the chops for about 3 minutes per side.
Pour the glaze from the small bowl over the chops and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat, spooning the glaze over the chops every so often. Simmer, covered, for about 5-7 minutes or until the meat reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
Notes
Proper Searing: Ensure the skillet is adequately heated before adding the pork chops to achieve a golden brown sear on the outside. This helps lock in juices and adds flavor to the chops. Avoid overcrowding the skillet, as this can lower the temperature and prevent proper browning.
Glaze Thickness: Adjust the thickness of the glaze according to preference. For a thicker, more intense flavor, simmer the glaze for a longer period of time to reduce and thicken it. Conversely, for a lighter glaze, reduce the cooking time or add a splash of water or broth to thin it out.
Resting Period: Allow the pork chops to rest for a few minutes after cooking before serving. This allows the juices to be redistributed, resulting in juicier and more flavorful meat. Tent the chops loosely with aluminum foil during the resting period to keep them warm.
