Lucky Day Mason Jar Gift

This past weekend we celebrated my niece and nephew's birthday with a nice family gathering at my sister and brother-in-law's house. The kids always have fun playing with their cousins, and as a family, it's always nice to catch up outside of our busy weekly schedules.

Not only was I getting my niece and nephew's presents ready, but I was also planning a fun surprise for my sister and BIL. Both of their birthdays fall in March, and believe it or not, my sister's birthday is actually on St. Patrick's Day. I thought it would be fun to make these "lucky" mason jar gifts filled with lottery scratch-off tickets. In the "rare" (chuckle) case they scratch off each and every one of them, and win nothing, I added some chocolate coins to the bottom of the jar as a consolation prize.

I wrapped a green ribbon around the jar and created these cute "Have a Lucky Day!" printable tags to stick on the front to hold on the ribbon.

Save the label to your desktop and then insert the image into a Word or PPT document to re-size and print out however many you need. I didn't want to create an entire sheet of labels because I only needed to print out two of them. I printed my labels out on sticker paper so I didn't need to mess with any glue or adhesives. Then, I just cut them out with a scissors and stuck them on the jars.

I found some cute glittery shamrocks at the Dollar Store this year and decided to place one on the top of each jar before screwing on the lid to keep the tickets from falling out.

There are so many things you could add to the jar besides lottery tickets. Fill the whole thing up with gold coins, shamrock cookies or other cute St. Patrick's Day treats.

I knew my sister and BIL would have fun with the lottery tickets, and who knows, it really could be their lucky day. If so, I hope they share their winnings!
