My favorite part is that it all comes together with just a few ingredients and get this. . .a microwave. Yep, no-bake, baby. Just the way I {we} like it.
I found three fun candy coating colors at the store the other day that I just couldn't pass up. I knew immediately what I wanted to do with them. I also have a plan for what I have left over. Stay tuned for part II of the candy coating fun!
So, I literally poured the melted white candy coating onto a baking sheet I covered with a Silpat liner. Then I just drizzled on the three other colors in a very random way, taking care to make sure I got color all the way to the edges of the white coating.
I seriously had never heard of Easter Sundae M&Ms. And why is that? Well, because they're new. . .and I'm thinking they're only seasonal. Soooo. . .if you can't find the same flavor of M&Ms it's okay! Any color or flavor will do. It will taste just as delicious, I promise!
After the bark has cooled in the fridge, take it out and break it up into smaller pieces. This stuff is sweet, so just a small piece will do. I used my hands to break up the bark. If you use a knife, run the knife under hot water first, dry it off and then slice into the bark. You'll be able to cut it easier.
I mean, how pretty is this?! You know I love colorful desserts. Colorful desserts are kid magnets. The minute my son saw this bark he was asking 20 questions about it. First and foremost, "Did you take pictures of this already?" and "Can I eat it?" The first question is one that's heard in a food blogger's home almost every day. Yes, honey. I took the pictures. And yes, go ahead and try it.
Long story short, (I won't go through the other 20 questions which were basically about how I got all the colors on there. . .) this candy bark received high marks from the kiddos. And I'm pretty sure it will receive high marks from you, too! This bark can be stored for up to two weeks, so make this ahead of time and serve it up on Easter day! It may just give that beautiful ham a run for its money!
Drizzled Candy Bark
Ingredients
- 1 lb. white candy coating
- 1 ounce each various colors of candy coating (I used pink, blue and green)
- ½ cup M&Ms (I used Easter Sundae flavor)
- Assorted sprinkles
Instructions
- Cover a baking sheet with a silpat liner or parchment paper.
- Melt the white candy coating and individual colors of candy coating in separate bowls in the microwave, heat in 30 minute intervals.
- Pour the white candy coating onto the baking sheet and smooth out.
- With a spoon or fork, drizzle half of the other colors over the top of the white candy coating.
- Sprinkle on M&Ms and sprinkles.
- Drizzle the remaining colored candy coating on top of the candy.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- When the bark has set, break or slice up the bark into pieces.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Use High-Quality Candy Coating: Opt for high-quality candy coating for the best results in terms of taste and texture. Cheaper brands may not melt as smoothly or have the same creamy consistency, which can affect the overall appearance and flavor of the candy bark.
- Work Quickly with Drizzling: When drizzling the colored candy coating over the white candy coating, work quickly to create a marbled effect before the white candy coating sets. Use a back-and-forth motion with a spoon or fork to create a decorative pattern, ensuring that the colors are evenly distributed across the surface.
- Customize with Toppings: Get creative with the toppings by using a variety of colorful candies and sprinkles. Experiment with different combinations to add visual interest and flavor to the candy bark. Ensure that the toppings are evenly distributed across the surface for a balanced and appealing appearance.
