Valentine's Day is going to be here before we know it. I went grocery shopping the other day and, of course, went down the candy aisle, where I found these.
I knew right away what I wanted to do with them, so as long as I was at the store, I got the rest of my supplies. Here's what you'll need to make your own yummy Peeps treats.
Ingredients
- Heart Peeps
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 ¼ cups Rice Krispies cereal
- ¼ cup M&Ms (optional)
- ¼ cup sprinkles (optional)
- Silicone heart mold (not really an ingredient but necessary for the treats!)
Throw the butter and the marshmallows into a microwave bowl and heat on high for 1 minute in the microwave - stirring halfway through.
Now take your silicone heart pan and place a Peep Heart in each one. You can still see the drop of water on my mold. I wash everything before I bake. I think that's a good thing, right?
Now take your marshmallow mixture and press it into the heart molds.
I used a straw to help make the heart shape more prominent.
Let the treats sit for at least 30 minutes or so, and then, pop them out. Here's what the bottom of them should look like (this was actually the top when you put the marshmallow mixture in the molds).
And the yummy, marshmallowy (I know that's not a word, but I'm using it anyway) top side (which was actually on the bottom of the molds). These Peep Hearts are adorable.
I got a big thumbs up, so I went back to work taking my photos. Remember when Peeps were only an Easter thing? Now, you can find Peeps for each and every holiday. Sweet. If your family loves Peeps and Rice Krispie Treats, they're going to fall head-over-heels in love with this quick and simple treat!
Valentine Rice Krispie Treats

- 1 pack Heart Peeps
- 2 cup Mini Marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 ¼ cup Rice Krispies cereal
- ¼ cup M&Ms (optional)
- ¼ cup Sprinkles (optional)
- Silicone heart mold
Instructions
- Throw the butter and the marshmallows into a microwave bowl and heat on high for 1 minute in the microwave - stirring halfway through.,
- Pull the bowl out of the microwave and mix well until the marshmallow and butter is combined. Then add the Rice Krispies.are
- This is the fun part, and totally optional, of course. But, who doesn't love M&Ms and sprinkles? I added some into my treats to give my treats an extra splash of color.
- Now take your silicone heart pan and place a Peep Heart in each one.
- Now take your marshmallow mixture and press it into the heart molds.
- I used a straw to help make the heart shape more prominent.
- Let the treats sit for at least 30 minutes or so, and then, pop them out.
Notes
- Ensure Proper Marshmallow Consistency: When microwaving the butter and marshmallows, keep a close eye on them to prevent overheating. Stirring halfway through helps ensure even melting. Aim for a smooth, fully combined mixture before adding the Rice Krispies to guarantee the right texture for your treats.
- Customize with Colorful Additions: While M&Ms and sprinkles are optional, they can elevate the visual appeal of your Valentine Rice Krispie Treats. If you opt to include them, gently fold them into the marshmallow and Rice Krispies mixture before pressing it into the molds. This step adds extra color and flavor, making your treats more festive and fun.
- Use a Silicone Heart Mold for Precision: Using a silicone heart mold ensures uniformity in shape and size for your treats, perfect for Valentine's Day. Before pressing the marshmallow mixture into the molds, place a peep heart in each one for a charming finishing touch. For a defined heart shape, consider using a straw to help mold the mixture within the silicone molds effectively. Allow the treats to set adequately before removing them from the molds to maintain their shape.
