Vaseline can at times be a controversial topic when it comes to being used for beauty. I'm not a doctor by any means but I can tell you that we've used Vaseline in my family for as long as I can remember and years and years even before me. Some of the uses in my list below do pertain to beauty but if you are uncomfortable using petroleum jelly on your body or don't agree with it, no problem, just focus on the other uses in the list that are not beauty-related.

Now to all of you I've just freaked out with my previous statement, take a look at this article and make your own decision of whether or not you deem Vaseline safe to use. I truly believe it's safe and my children's pediatrician does too. The hospital sent us home with tubes of it after each delivery!

Alright, now that we're finished with the disclaimer, onto the list!

    10 Uses for Vaseline

    1. Apply a little Vaseline to your front teeth before putting on lipstick (especially the "long-lasting" kinds that tend to stick to your teeth) to prevent the color from transferring from your lips to your teeth. If you forget to apply it before, you can always apply it after as well and it will remove any smudges that may already be there!
    2. Make your perfume scent last longer by applying Vaseline to your pulse points before spritzing on your favorite fragrance.
    3. Stretch your favorite lotion by adding some Vaseline to it.
    4. Help your baby avoid irritation from drooling by applying a little Vaseline to their chin
    5. Shine your leather shoes and bags by wiping Vaseline over the leather and removing any excess with a cotton cloth.
    6. Prevent stuck on nail polish caps by rubbing some Vaseline on the neck of the polish bottle.
    7. Remove stains from linen napkins by putting a little Vaseline on the stain before you wash it.
    8. Prevent uneven tanning by adding a small dab of Vaseline to any dry skin spots before applying sunless tanner.
    9. Create your own lipgloss by finishing off your lipstick application with a thin coat of Vaseline or create your own using a mixture of Kool-Aid powder and Vaseline.
    1. Wake up to softer feet by applying a coat of Vaseline to your feet before bed and covering them with socks.
Bonus Vaseline Tip for Summer: Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil is the best ever!Squeeze just a small amount on your hands, rub together and apply to your legs just before you run out the door. It absolutely erases any dry areas and keeps your legs looking great all day long!

Bonus Vaseline Tip for the Fall: With Halloween just a few months away, keep this tip in mind. Rub Vaseline on the exposed edges of your carved pumpkins to help it from going dry or rotting.

Bonus Vaseline Tip for the Winter: With the cooler weather that will soon be upon us, apply Vaseline to your kids' cheeks and nose before you send them outside to play. It protects against wind burn and dry, red, irritated cheeks!

NEVER USE VASELINE TO. . .remove ticks. It doesn't work. In fact, irritating the tick may cause it to regurgitate its stomach contents into your child's blood, increasing the risk of infection. For more on this topic, click here to read an article from BabyCenter.com.
