This Dirt Cake Trifle is out of this world! It combines the sweet richness of brownies with smooth chocolate pudding and Oreo cookies for that perfect spring trifle dessert!

HOW TO MAKE OREO DIRT CAKE TRIFLE
Before you get started, make sure you have the following ingredients:
- Brownie mix (9x13 size)
- Instant chocolate pudding
- Cool Whip
- Oreos (about 36 cookies)
- Green icing pouch
- Edible Easter grass
- Gummy worms
PREPARING THE TRIFLE
Prepare the brownie mix in a 9x13 pan according to box directions and allow it to cool completely. Then grab the rest of your ingredients and follow the steps below for a sweet and easy trifle dessert!
- Cut cooled brownies into 1-inch cubes. Set aside.
- Prepare pudding according to box directions.
- Add Cool Whip to prepared pudding.
- Fold in the Cool Whip. Set aside.
ASSEMBLING THE DIRT CAKE TRIFLE
- To assemble your trifle, place ⅓ of brownie chunks in the bottom of your trifle bowl.
- Add ⅓ of the pudding mixture.
- Top with ½ of the crushed Oreos. Repeat two more times.
- Sprinkle Oreo crumbs over top.
GARNISHING THE DIRT CAKE TRIFLE
Using the round tip on the green icing pouch, pipe blades of grass around the cake. Add gummy worms and edible Easter grass sprigs to the top of the trifle for garnish, then serve and enjoy.
TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST DIRT CAKE TRIFLE
- Make sure you are using instant pudding mix instead of the cook'n serve pudding. The pudding will not set up correctly.
- This dessert tastes best when allowed to set in the fridge before serving. For best results, make the dessert a day ahead of time and let it sit in the refrigerator, covered, overnight.
- If using double stuffed Oreos, make sure that there is enough cookie compared to cream to have the right consistency for the crumbs!
WHAT OTHER INGREDIENTS COULD I ADD TO THE TRIFLE?
Feel free to swap out ingredients like the regular Oreos with Golden Oreos or Double Stuffed Oreos. The chocolate pudding can be substituted for vanilla or pistachio pudding.

Dirt Cake Trifle
Ingredients
- Box of brownie mix (9x13, prepared according to box directions)
- 2 - 3 ounce boxes instant chocolate pudding (prepared according to box directions)
- 8 ounces whipped topping
- 14.3 ounce package Oreos (about 36 cookies, divided)
- Green icing pouch (use the round tip)
- Edible Easter grass
- Gummy worms
Instructions
- Prepare brownie mix in a 9x13-inch pan according to box directions and allow to cool completely.
- Cut cooled brownies into 1-inch cubes. Set aside.
- Prepare pudding according to box directions.
- Fold cool whip into prepared pudding. Set aside.
- Place 8 Oreos in a food processor and blend them into crumbs. Set aside.
- Place remaining Oreos in a large ziplock bag. Hit them with a mallet until they are in smaller chunks.
- To assemble your trifle, place ⅓ of brownie chunks in the bottom of your trifle bowl followed by ⅓ of the pudding mixture and ½ of the crushed Oreos. Repeat this two more times.
- Sprinkle Oreo crumbs over top.
- Using the round tip on the green icing pouch, pipe blades of grass around the cake.
- Add gummy worms and edible Easter grass sprigs to the top of the trifle for garnish.
- Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- This dessert is best when it has been sitting in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
- Be sure you use the instant pudding mix. The ones you need to cook will not set up properly.
- If you’re using double stuffed Oreos, make sure there is enough cookie compared to filling to have the right consistency.
- Feel free to add other toppings like gummy bears, M&Ms, chocolate chips or even Golden Oreos.
