Would you believe me if I told you that veggies and dip was one of my favorite foods ever? Whenever I'm at a party, that's the tray I check out first. I think it's a good thing. I'd rather fill up on veggies than eat a cocktail wiener any day. I actually even prefer veggies over fruit. When I go to parties, I am often the one to volunteer to bring the veggie tray, to ensure there's one on the food table!

Today I'm sharing a super easy veggie dip recipe that is FABULOUS. But, it's not fabulous immediately out of the mixing bowl. You NEED to make this dip at least 8 hours ahead of when you're planning to serve it. Even better, right?

You can make this dip the night before the party and only have your hair to worry about the day of the big event. Yeah, right. Those days are long gone. That was the "pre-children" era of my life. Now, I just call it a victory if I remember to put some lip gloss on before heading out the door. And even that doesn't usually happen until I'm sitting in the car. But I'll tell you what, not once when I've been asked to bring veggies and dip to a party, have I forgotten it. And after you make this recipe, you'll know why!

So, here's the ingredient line up: Sour cream, Mayo, Old Bay Seasoning, dill weed, minced onions, and parsley flakes. So easy, right? Nope, that was actually the hard part. It took me longer to find the ingredients in my unorganized spice cabinet than it did to make the dip.

As I stirred the ingredients together in the dish I started thinking about summer and all the fun our family will have up north at the lake this year. So many of our lazy afternoons at the cabin are filled with refreshing appetizers like veggies and dip and chips and fresh pico de gallo.

And just for fun, I decided to arrange the veggies in the shape of a carrot.

So, hey, next time you're in need of a great veggie dip recipe, try this one. Don't run to the store and buy the stuff in the container! For shame! Just kidding. I've been there, too!

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
    • 1 tablespoon minced onion
    • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
    • 1 tablespoon dried dill weed

    Instructions

    • Mix all ingredients in a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
    • Serve with fresh veggies and crackers.

    Notes

    • Adjust Seasoning to Taste: While the recipe includes Old Bay seasoning, minced onion, parsley, and dill weed, feel free to adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. You can increase or decrease the amount of each seasoning to tailor the flavor profile of the dip to your liking. Additionally, you can experiment with adding other herbs and spices, such as garlic powder, paprika, or chives, for a personalized touch.
    • Enhance Creaminess: To achieve a smoother and creamier texture, consider mixing the mayonnaise and sour cream thoroughly until well combined. This ensures that the dip has a consistent texture and flavor throughout. You can use a whisk or electric mixer to achieve a smoother consistency, especially if the mayonnaise or sour cream has clumps.
    • Allow Sufficient Chilling Time: The flavors of the dip develop and meld together over time, so it's essential to refrigerate the dip for at least 8 hours before serving. This chilling period allows the seasonings to infuse into the mayonnaise and sour cream base, resulting in a more flavorful and cohesive dip. For best results, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid to prevent any external flavors from seeping into the dip while it chills in the refrigerator.
