So, normally an air fryer is an appliance you invest in when you're looking to lose some weight and eat better. I purchased my air fryer because I love fried food but knew it was bad for me, HOWEVER, along with all of the healthy food I prepare in my air fryer, I've also learned how to make some pretty yummy desserts.
Today we're making an Air Fryer Pizookie - that's right, a pizookie!
WHAT'S A PIZOOKIE?
A pizookie is a combination between a pizza and a cookie, topped with chocolate chips, candy or sprinkles and served warm with dripping scoops of ice cream!
Normally, pizookies are made in cast iron skillets, but today, we're making them in the air fryer!
Pizookies are soft, chewy, delicious and not as good for you as my roast chicken, but WHO CARES! Today, it's all about dessert!
HOW TO MAKE AN AIR FRYER PIZOOKIE
To make your pizookie, you'll need:
- Butter
- Sugar
- Brown sugar
- Egg
- Vanilla
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Flour
- Mini chocolate chips
- Mini M&Ms
Most of the ingredients you'll find right in your pantry. And hey, it never hurts to keep some chocolate chips and M&Ms on hand at all times either.? But if you don't have those, make a quick trip to the store and pick them up. It's worth it for this HUGE cookie!
Let's get this party started by beating the butter and sugars together.
Add the egg and vanilla and mix until smooth.
Once the baking soda, salt and flour is mixed in, get that candy ready!
And mix it on in with the dough.
Press the batter evenly into a greased air fryer cake barrel pan. I got mine from this accessory kit.
In under 10 minutes, your pizookie is ready! You can see it's pulled away from the pan a bit and the cookie is a nice golden color. Not overdone, but not underdone either.
These pizookies are SO delicious that I often. . .
Make TWO! Because let's just be honest. You want this just as much as the kids.
I've always thought about sandwiching some icing or ice cream inside and making a huge pizookie sandwich! What do you think? Am I on to something?
For now, let's just focus on a single slice.
Top the cookie slice with a scoop of ice cream, chocolate chips and sprinkles and call the kids in to eat.
Or feel free to just top the entire pizookie with ice cream. That's okay, too.
Sometimes less is more. . .but never forget the sprinkles.
And sometimes more is more. When you break out the second cookie (because you know you're going to make two), just DO IT UP!
WHAT TOPPINGS SHOULD I PUT ON A PIZOOKIE?
Oh gosh. Topping ideas for a pizookie are pretty much endless! Try one or more of the following:
- Hot fudge
- Caramel topping
- Whipped cream
- Sanding sugar
- Jimmies
- Chocolate sauce
- Frosting
- Pecans
- Sweetened strawberries
- And the list goes on!
Experiment with different kinds of ice cream as well. My favorite is always vanilla but cookie dough or fudge revel sound amazing as well!
Make sure to enjoy your pizookie while it's still warm. The ice cream should begin to melt as soon as it hits the cookie.
Enjoy every bite of this soft, chewy, big-as-your-head cookie! I can't wait to hear how yours turns out!

Tried this tonight and the bottom was raw while the top was burnt. Smelled delicious but completely inedible 😂 Any suggestions? We preheated & followed the instructions other than adding M&Ms (we were out 😉)

My guess is that maybe it was a bit thicker than it should have been. Try flattening it out a bit more next time you make it. Hope this solves the problem! Also, remember that all air fryers perform differently. You air fryer may need to bake a bit longer at a lower temp. So much of air frying is experimentation!

Thank you so much!! We’ll definitely give it a shot again! My 10 year old daughter just got the air fryer for Christmas (it was #1 on her wishlist!!), so it’s all experimentation for us right now lol
t
no air fryer, can these be made in the oven?
Sara
I've never tried it in the oven, but I'm sure you could. I'd try it in an 8-inch oven-proof skillet at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-22 minutes.
