HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS COOL WHIP TRUFFLES

Before you get started, grab the following ingredients:

MAKING THE TRUFFLES

steps for making Cool Whip candy
  1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Continue until the chips are melted and smooth.
  2. When chocolate chips are cooled, add Cool Whip and stir until completely incorporated.
  3. Refrigerate mixture for about 30 minutes or until it is thick enough to scoop. Place scoops of truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for 1 hour.
  4. Remove the truffles from the freezer and roll them until they are round balls. Place them back in the freezer.

COATING THE COOL WHIP TRUFFLES

steps for coating Cool Whip candy
  1. Place chocolate bark in a small glass and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring often, until melted. Depending on the thickness, you may want to add coconut oil to thin it a bit. Every brand of melting chocolate or bark will give you a different consistency. Repeat these same steps with the white chocolate bark.
  2. Using a small fork, lower half of the truffles into the melted chocolate bark until they are completely covered.
  3. Place coated truffle on the lined baking sheet and repeat these steps with the other half of the truffles in the white chocolate bark.
  4. Use a spoon to drizzle the white chocolate onto the chocolate truffles. Add sprinkles before the bark hardens.

Go ahead and drizzle the chocolate bark onto the white chocolate truffles, adding sprinkles before the bark hardens. Then, chill and serve.

COOL WHIP TRUFFLE TIPS

  • Adding crushed peppermint or other crushed candies is a great way to make these truffles even more festive!
  • Don't substitute fresh or canned whipped cream for the Cool Whip in these truffles. The consistency is different and the filling will have problems "stabilizing."
  • Store the truffles in the freezer until you're ready to serve for the best taste and consistency.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS START HARDENING WHEN I ADD THEM TO THE COOL WHIP?

If the chocolate chips start to harden as you fold them into the Cool Whip, just keep stirring until everything is well-combined.

WHAT KIND OF CHOCOLATE IS BEST FOR DIPPING THE TRUFFLES?

Chocolate bark (AKA candy coating) will work the best for dipping the truffles. If the coating seems a bit thick, add some coconut oil to achieve a smoother and thinner consistency.

HOW DO YOU STORE COOL WHIP TRUFFLES?

Keep the truffles sealed in an airtight container and separate the layers with parchment paper.

You can also store them in a Ziploc bag, but a container works best to keep them separated. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 30 days.
