Making Air Fryer French Fries
Slicing the potatoes is probably the most difficult part of this whole recipe - and I promise you - you can handle it.
Add a couple tablespoons of olive oil to the fries.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
And these fries are ready to go into your frying basket!
Air fry at 400º Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. I like to shake the basket halfway through just to make sure all of the fries are evenly cooked.
These fries remind me of the fries I get at our hometown fair. Go ahead and sprinkle a little malt vinegar on the top of the fries, too, if that's your thing.
As long as I have ketchup, I'm a happy girl.
Start heating up that air fryer and get ready to make a few batches. Once the rest of the family tries these French fries, you're all going to be hooked!
These fries are the perfect side to serve with grilled burgers, fried fish and really anything else you can think of! Grab some helpers to start slicing those potatoes. You're going to adore these fries!
Air Fryer French Fries
Ingredients
- 4 cups potatoes cut into ¼” x ¼” fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ tablespoon pepper
Instructions
- Coat potatoes with olive oil.
- Sprinkle on the salt and pepper.
- Air fry at 400º Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Shake basket halfway through cooking time.
Notes
- Consistent Sizing for Even Cooking: Aim to cut your potatoes into uniform sizes to ensure they cook evenly. This helps prevent some fries from being undercooked while others are overcooked. A thickness of ¼ inch ensures a balance between a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior.
- Don't Overcrowd the Basket: To achieve crispiness, it's essential not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. Arrange the potato fries in a single layer, leaving some space between them to allow hot air to circulate evenly around each fry. If necessary, cook the fries in batches.
- Shake for Even Crispiness: Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to promote even cooking and browning. This prevents the fries from sticking together and ensures that all sides are exposed to the hot air, resulting in uniformly crispy French fries.
