    • Maraschino cherries - Sweet and juicy, perfect for absorbing in the flavors of the whipped cream vodka and leaving you with a burst of flavor in every bite.
    • Pinnacle whipped cream vodka - Add a great vanilla flavor to your maraschino cherries that brings extra sweetness to the dessert that you don’t get with regular vodka.
    • White almond bark - Melts smoothly and adds a perfect sweet coating to the cherries that tastes amazing with the other ingredients.
    • Blue sprinkles - The final step to this red white and blue dessert! Sprinkles add a slight crunch and a subtle sweetness as well as making this boozy treat look as perfectly patriotic.

See recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • This recipe also works well with strawberries.
    • You can use different colored candy melts to add even more fun to this recipe! Just be sure to melt the candy in small batches and stir so that no chunks form.
    • Instead of sprinkles, you can use blue sanding sugar to dip your cherries in as well.
    • You can use fresh cherries instead of maraschino cherries, but be sure to pit them and allow them to soak for longer in the vodka because they aren't already stored in syrup. Keep in mind that using fresh cherries may not give you as sweet of a dessert.

How to Make Spiked Cherry Bombs

Once you've gathered all your ingredients, drain the syrup off of the cherries and then follow the steps below for a patriotic, sweet treat!

Pouring vodka from a bottle into a glass jar of maraschino cherries.
    1. Fill the jar and cover the cherries with vodka. Tightly cover the jar and refrigerate overnight.

    Helpful Tips

    • The longer you soak your cherries, the stronger boozy flavor you’ll have!
    • You can save the syrup you drain off the cherries for future drinks as well as the cherry infused vodka that you’re left with.
    • To make virgin cherry bombs for the kids, just omit the vodka.

    Recipe FAQs

What other types of alcohol can be used to make cherry bombs?

Yes! You can use any type of alcohol you prefer to soak your cherries in. The options for this recipe are limitless, so feel free to experiment with different flavors to find your favorite.

Do you need to soak the cherries overnight to make these buzzed cherry bombs?

For the strongest flavor, I do recommend soaking your cherries in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 8 hours. However, if you are short on time, be sure to soak them for at least a few hours so that they can absorb some of the vodka.

    Can I make a non-alcoholic version of vodka-infused cherries?

Yes, you can make a non-alcoholic version by omitting the marinating step or soaking the cherries in a flavored syrup or juice instead of alcohol. This way, everyone can enjoy them!

How far in advance can you make drunken cherries?

If you’re planning ahead, you can make these cherries 5-7 days ahead of time. Be sure to keep them in an airtight container and keep in mind that the longer the cherries soak, the stronger the booze flavor will be.

    Storage & Freezing Instructions

    Storage Instructions

Store any leftover cherries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. Over time the cherries will become less firm but should still taste the same.

    Freezing Instructions

Freezing these boozy cherry bombs is not recommended due to the texture of the cherries becoming mushy when thawed.
