HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CHEESY BREADSTICKS

Before we get started, grab the following ingredients:

    • Refrigerated pizza crust
    • Butter, melted
    • Garlic, crushed
    • Grated mozzarella cheese
    • Parmesan cheese
    • Dried oregano leaves, optional
    • Spaghetti sauce, optional

Before we begin some work on the pizza crust, preheat the oven to 425ºF.

steps for making cheese sticks at home
    1. Roll out the pizza crust onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
    2. Mix melted butter and crushed garlic together, then brush it evenly over the entire pizza crust.
    3. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly onto the pizza crust. Sprinkle dried oregano evenly on top.
    4. Before you place the baking sheet in the oven, cut the cheese covered pizza crust into 16 equal rectangles using a pizza cutter or large knife.

Bake for 12 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly and slightly golden.

    HOMEMADE CHEESY BREADSTICK TIPS

    • Experiment with other types of cheese for extra flavor! Some great options include Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, and Provolone!
    • Remember to spray the parchment paper with cooking spray to ensure the pizza crust doesn’t stick!
    • Feel free to add other seasonings and spices on top of the breadsticks for different flavors.

CAN I USE HOMEMADE PIZZA DOUGH FOR THIS RECIPE?

If you prefer to make your own pizza dough, this recipe will still taste great with homemade dough! The refrigerated crust is a little more simple but either way you’ll have a great dish!

WHAT'S A GOOD SUBSTITUTE FOR FRESH GARLIC?

Fresh garlic always provides the best flavor, but if you don't have any on hand, there are plenty of substitutes. When replacing fresh garlic, you'll want to adjust the measurement as well to control the intensity of the flavor.

    Try one of these substitutes:

    • Granulated garlic: Use ¼ teaspoon of granulated garlic in place of each clove.
    • Minced garlic: Use ½ teaspoon of jarred minced garlic in place of each clove.
    • Garlic powder: Use ⅛ teaspoon of garlic powder in place of each clove.

WHAT OTHER HERBS CAN BE USED TO ADD MORE FLAVOR TO THE BREADSTICKS?

If you want to add a little more "flair" to the breadsticks, you could try shaking on some Italian seasoning or trying one or a combination of the following herbs:

    • Basil
    • Thyme
    • Rosemary
    • Parsley

HOW DO YOU STORE CHEESY BREADSTICKS?

This recipe can be stored in the refrigerator in a covered container for up to five days.
