Crispy and delicious, these air fryer sweet potato fries aren’t just addicting, but they're so easy to make. You’ll have a delicious side or snack in just 10 minutes.
HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER SWEET POTATO FRIES
To make these "healthier" fries, you'll need:
- Sweet potatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt & pepper
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, get out that air fryer and let’s make the best sweet potato fries you’ve ever had!
First, peel and slice your potatoes into ¼ inch sticks. You can use a sharp knife for this. Be careful though! Sweet potatoes can be tough to cut.
Add the olive oil to the sweet potato fries. . .
And then add the salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper. You can use a fork to combine everything together.
Mix the fries into the seasoning mixture until they are fully coated and then place a layer of the fries into your air fryer basket.
Air fry at 380℉ for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
How beautiful do these sweet potato fries look?!
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CUT SWEET POTATO FRIES?
You'll want to start with two medium-sized sweet potatoes. Peel and wash them, then cut off the skinny ends so that the whole potato is about the same thickness.
Cut the sweet potato in half lengthwise. Lay it with the flat side on the cutting board and then cut ¼- to ½- inch thick sticks.
WHY ARE MY FRIES SOGGY?
If your fries come out soggy, it is probably because you overcrowded them in the basket. When you overcrowd them, they steam instead of air fry.
Keep in mind that you will need to do 2-3 batches of fries in your air fryer. For crispy sweet potato fries, cook them in a single layer so that the air has room to circulate around them.
If you don’t have time to do several batches, you can cook up to two layers at a time using a rack for the air fryer, but you will have to flip them to promote even cooking.
CAN I ADD DIFFERENT SEASONINGS?
Absolutely! Sweet potato fries are versatile, so you can add a variety of different seasonings to change the flavor to your liking. Here are some ideas:
- Cajun sweet potato fries- Toss your fries in cajun seasoning, air fry, and then season with salt at the end for a cajun kick.
- Sweet and spicy fries- Add ¼ of cayenne pepper to make these fries sweet and spicy.
- Cheesy sweet potato fries- Top your air fried sweet potato fries with 1 to 2 tablespoons of freshly grated parmesan for a cheesy twist.
- Sweet fries- Toss your sweet potatoes with salt, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of brown sugar for sweeter fries.
HOW DO I STORE LEFTOVER SWEET POTATO FRIES?
You can store any leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-days, but you will need to reheat them in the air fryer to crisp them back up.
To reheat them, place them in the air fryer at 375℉ for about 5-minutes or until they are crispy.
You can also freeze your fries to use with another meal. Freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet until they are solid.
Then, transfer them to a freezer storage bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Follow the instructions above to reheat them in the air fryer.
