Although this recipe has pizza in its name, don’t be fooled! This particular pizza isn’t a dinner option, it’s can be a dessert or a tasty appetizer! Take your pick.
This delicious fruit pizza makes an amazing summertime treat that all your family and friends will love. My family loves when I make this fruit pizza for get togethers and there are never any leftovers!
In fact, if you’re still looking for something fresh and delicious to make over Mother’s Day weekend. . .make THIS!
HOW TO MAKE FRUIT PIZZA
To make this gorgeous pizza, you’ll need:
- Package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- Whipped topping
- Cream cheese
- Blueberries, pineapple, raspberries, kiwi, green and red grapes
The beauty of this recipe (other than how colorful it is) is that you can customize the toppings. I love using a variety of fresh fruit, and what I’ve used here are a few of my favorites, but feel free to customize to your preferences.
Begin by lightly greasing a round pizza pan. Press the dough down to the pan until it is only about 1/8- inch thick and then poke the dough throughout with a fork.
Poking the dough helps release the air bubbles so the cookie crust doesn’t get puffy.
Bake the dough for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookie crust cool completely before adding the topping.
In a large bowl, whip together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla.
Add in the whipped topping.
Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled sugar cookie. Make sure you don’t go all the way to the edge so that you have a little room to hold the fruit pizza.
Top it all off with your favorite fruits.
And no, you don’t need to create a pattern or even arrange it neatly. I promise you it will still look delicious if you just sprinkle the pieces of fruit on the pizza.😉
CAN I MAKE MY OWN SUGAR COOKIE CRUST?
You could definitely make your own but I think it turns out just as well if you use pre-packaged, refrigerated dough from the store.
Store-bought dough will cut down the time it takes to make your fruit pizza so you can get out of the kitchen and have fun at the party, too!
WHAT ARE THE BEST TOPPINGS FOR A FRUIT PIZZA?
You can use just about any fruit you desire! In addition to the fruits I used on this pizza, you could try peaches, mangoes, Mandarin oranges or blackberries.
You could even use bananas and apples if you brush the pieces with a little lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PREPARE THIS FRUITY PIZZA?
For the crust of the fruit pizza, it will take about 8 to 10 minutes for the giant cookie crust to bake. Prep time for the toppings will vary, but including cutting up the different fruits, it shouldn’t take you more than 10 to 15 minutes.
Your fruit pizza should be ready for you and your friends and family to enjoy in 30 minutes or less!
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO STORE LEFTOVERS?
Cut your fruit pizza to fit in a storage container or wrap the entire pan in plastic wrap and place in the fridge.
The pizza will keep for a couple days depending on the types of fruit you use. Pieces of banana and apple may not last as long as other fruits.
CAN YOU FREEZE FRUIT PIZZA?
Once your fruit pizza is prepared, it will become very hard in the freezer and the texture will change once thawed.
You can freeze the cookie crust and the fruit separately, if needed. Just thaw the crust and the fruit and add the cream cheese frosting when you want to enjoy it.
