We've been busy getting settled into the new lake home up north. I look forward to lots of family and friends coming to visit so they can enjoy it along with us.
One of the things I love most of all are the delicious meals we whip up when we get together. Summer is an awesome time for picnics and potlucks, and today's recipe is the perfect dessert to bring along to share.
HOW TO MAKE LEMON LUSH DESSERT
To make this cool and creamy dessert, you’ll need:
- Butter
- Flour
- Walnuts
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Whipped topping
- Lemon pudding
- Milk
Begin by mixing together the butter, flour and walnuts. I like to use my hand mixer for this.
Get it to a nice smooth and uniform consistency.
Press the mixture firmly into a greased 9x13" baking dish.
While the crust bakes, start preparing the cream cheese mixture.
Add in the whipped topping and set aside.
You'll make the lemon pudding layer next.
When the crust has cooled, the dessert is ready to be assembled!
Dessert Assembly Instructions:
- Make sure crust has cooled before you start the dessert assembly.
- Place the cream cheese mixture on top of the crust.
- Spread the mixture evenly over the crust.
- Spread lemon pudding on top of cream cheese layer.
- Layer two cups whipped topping over top of pudding layer.
- Sprinkle ¼ cup of chopped walnuts on top.
Place the dessert in the fridge for at least two hours.
Dessert Assembly Tip
While the crust is baking, mix up the cream cheese and lemon pudding layers and chill them in the fridge until you're ready to assemble the dessert.
Just look at those delicious layers.
HOW DO YOU STORE LEMON LUSH DESSERT?
Cover the dessert with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store any leftovers in the fridge. The dessert can be stored in the fridge for up to five days.
CAN YOU FREEZE LEMON LUSH DESSERT?
I actually wouldn't recommend freezing this dessert. Why? It's basically because of the cream cheese layer. The cream cheese can become grainy when frozen and then defrosted.
Dig in and enjoy this light, cool and creamy summer dessert.
