    Helpful Tips

    • The longer that you soak your eggs in the water, the darker the color of the dyed cracks will be.
    • Be careful not to spill your bowl of water and food dye; otherwise, it will stain.
    • It’s important to have perfectly hard-boiled eggs that are cooked all the way through and have shells that peel perfectly.
    • You can boil, steam, or use an electric egg steamer for your hard-boiled eggs. Whatever works best for you!

    Recipe FAQs

How do I make the spiderweb effect on the hard-boiled eggs?

To create the perfect spiderweb effect, gently crack the egg shells all around using a spoon, being careful not to create large holes.

Can mayo be used instead of Miracle Whip for the egg filling?

Yes, you can substitute regular mayonnaise for Miracle Whip; just adjust the seasoning to taste.

What's the best way to get the egg yolk mixture into the egg white halves?

Transfer the yolk mixture to a ziplock bag, cut a small corner, and pipe it into the egg whites for a neat presentation; alternatively, you can simply spoon the filling into the eggs for a quicker option.

What can I use instead of food coloring for a spooky effect?

You can use natural colorings like beet juice for a reddish tint or purple cabbage juice for a blue effect.

What are some other creative toppings for these Halloween deviled eggs?

Try using sliced olives, bacon bits, or fresh herbs like chives for a unique twist on the classic recipe!

What can I serve these eggs with?

Along with other spooky appetizers, these deviled eggs can be served on a festively themed platter with Halloween picks and decorations. Serve them with a spooky-themed drink and these Pumpkin Oreo Balls.

Can I make these eggs ahead of time?

Yes, you can make spooky deviled eggs 1-2 days in advance. Add the filling or any extra decorative toppings just before serving.

If taking these Halloween eggs to a party, the safest way to transport them is with an egg storage container. Gently lift the eggs out of the container using a spoon when you are ready to serve.
