Spring is a perfect time to enjoy fresh root vegetables and today, I'm sharing a recipe for balsamic carrots that will be a hit with your whole family.
Once they're prepped, your air fryer will do all of the work!
Air Fryer Balsamic Carrots are a quick and easy side dish that is fancy enough for the holidays yet fast enough for busy weeknights. The balsamic glaze on the carrots really gives them an amazing flavor.
HOW TO MAKE BALSAMIC CARROTS
To make these flavorful carrots, you'll need:
- Carrots
- Olive oil
- Honey
- Salt & pepper
- Balsamic glaze
- Butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
When you have gathered all the ingredients, grab a large bowl and whisk the olive oil, honey, salt and pepper together until well-combined.
Add the chopped carrots to the bowl and stir until they are completely coated. I usually use a silicone spatula to swirl the carrots in the olive oil and honey mixture.
Transfer the carrots to your greased air fryer basket.
I've also included oven instructions in the recipe card in the event you don't have or want to use an air fryer.
Air fry at 390 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until carrots are tender. You can check them at the halfway point for doneness to determine how much longer they may need to cook.
Transfer the cooked carrots to a clean mixing bowl and add the balsamic glaze and melted butter. Stir the carrots with the glaze until everything is well-combined.
You can use a spatula or tongs to move the carrots around and ensure they are completely coated in the balsamic glaze.
Garnish with finely chopped parsley.
WHAT ARE THE BEST CARROTS TO USE FOR THIS RECIPE?
I recommend using fresh whole carrots over baby carrots. Some would disagree, but I feel like fresh carrots maybe aren't quite as sweet as baby carrots?🤷♀️
The honey and balsamic glaze will add the perfect level of sweetness. I I also enjoy the freedom of being able to slice or chop whole carrots any way I wish.
DO I REALLY NEED TO GREASE MY AIR FRYER BASKET?
It is recommended that you grease your air fryer basket. You can also place a parchment paper liner made for your air fryer on the bottom to prevent any food from sticking to the basket.
HOW TO STORE LEFTOVERS
To store your leftover air fryer carrots in the fridge, wait until they are cool and place them in an airtight container or ziplock bag. They will last in your fridge for 3 to 5 days.
CAN I FREEZE AIR FRYER CARROTS?
To freeze your leftover balsamic carrots, you will want to wait till they cool and place them in an airtight container or ziplock freezer bag. They will last in your freezer for up to 3 months.
