Last weekend my mom, sister and I visited one of our local apple orchards. We walked up and down the rows of trees reading the signs of all of the different kinds of apples that were planted in the orchard. Some, I honestly had never heard of, but they all looked delicious.
If you're planning your own visit to an apple orchard this fall, make sure to look up some recipes before you head out. It's easy to get carried away filling your bag or box and come home with more apples than you know what to do with!

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER APPLE FRIES
To make these tasty air fryer apple fries, you'll need:
- Apples
- Eggs
- Graham cracker crumbs
- Sugar
- Cream cheese
- Brown sugar
- Vanilla
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE THE APPLES?
You'll need to peel, core and cut the apples. A peeler like this one makes the job really easy! This time, I just used a hand peeler and a corer like this one. Make sure to cut them into similar sized wedges so they cook at the same rate.
After your apples are peeled, cored and cut, toss them with flour until they are well-coated.
Dip the floured apple wedges into a bowl of beaten eggs.
Then, coat them with the graham cracker crumb and sugar mixture.
Place the coated apple wedges in a greased air fryer basket without overlapping them.
Air fry the apple wedges at 380º Fahrenheit for 8 minutes or until they begin to turn golden brown.
While the apples are in the air fryer, you'll want to make your caramel dip.
Beat the cream cheese, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl.
Serve the apples with the dip immediately when the apples are still warm and crisp!
WHAT TYPE OF APPLES SHOULD I USE?
I used Ambrosias which are crisp and juicy with a hint of honey flavor. You can really use any type of apple you like. Braeburn, Honey Crisp, Granny Smith and Gala are all good options.
Avoid using softer apples like Red Delicious that will become mushy and not stand up to the heat.
CAN I CUT THE APPLES LIKE FRIES RATHER THAN WEDGES?
You can, but I think you'll find that the wedges really give you the best of both worlds - a bit of crunch as well as big apple flavor.
CAN YOU MAKE APPLE FRIES AHEAD OF TIME?
You won't want to make these apple fries too far ahead of time because they become soggy as they begin to cool. They're much better if you enjoy them right out of the air fryer.
WHAT ELSE CAN I DIP THE APPLES IN?
The caramel dip recipe I've shared here is delicious, but if you're short on time or just don't want to make a dip from scratch, you can buy caramel apple dip from the store, use caramel ice cream topping or even just dip them in a dessert topping like this.

Instructions
- Toss apple wedges with flour in a large bowl until apples are coated.
- In a small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and sugar.

- Place coated wedges in a greased air fryer basket without overlapping them.
- Air fry at 380º Fahrenheit for 8 minutes or until they begin to turn golden brown.

Notes
- You need to prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and cutting them before starting the recipe.
- For even cooking, make sure to cut them in the same size.
- Make sure to arrange your apple slices in the air fryer without overlapping to allow even cooking.
- I wouldn't recommend making apple fries too far in advance because they have a tendency to become soggy.
