    • Customizable and fun: It’s super simple to add your favorite toppings and add-ins to these pancakes. Whether you’re craving chocolate chips, fresh blueberries, or rainbow sprinkles, you can easily customize your pancakes in the air fryer.
    • Quick and easy ingredients: You’ll most likely already have all of the necessary ingredients in your kitchen, making this recipe even more simple!

    Ingredients

Gather the ingredients below to make this easy air fryer breakfast!

A flat lay of flour, milk, eggs, butter, sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla in clear bowls on a marble surface.
    • Eggs - Use room temperature eggs for the smoothest batter.
    • Milk - Use your milk of choice.
    • Butter gives the pancakes a buttery richness; use unsalted butter so the pancakes aren’t too salty.
    • Flour - You can sift your flour to avoid a lumpy batter.
    • Salt - Just a pinch should do the job!
    • Baking powder helps the pancakes rise and get perfectly fluffy while cooking—just like in my Perfect Pancakes recipe, where it's one of the secrets to that soft, airy texture everyone loves. Check out what the second one is!
    • Sugar gives the pancakes a hint of sweetness.
    • Vanilla adds the perfect sweet flavor and gives the pancakes a wonderful aroma.

See recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Batter substitutions: You can use any pancake batter you love—homemade, store-bought mix, or even protein pancake mix for an extra boost.
    • Flavor additions: Try a splash of almond extract, a dash of cinnamon, or a pinch of nutmeg to warm up the flavor.
    • Fun add-ins: Mix things up with mini chocolate chips, blueberries, chopped nuts, or even rainbow sprinkles for a kid-friendly twist—or try making one big pancake with different add-ins in sections like we do in this Fluffy Oven Pancake recipe!
    • Egg replacements: For an egg-free version, swap each egg with ¼ cup of mashed banana or unsweetened applesauce.
    • Dairy-free options: Use almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk instead of regular milk, and sub coconut oil or dairy-free butter for a plant-based option.
    • Flour swaps: Whole wheat flour adds a hearty texture, or use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend to keep it gluten-free.

How to Make Pancakes in the Air Fryer

Melted butter being added from a measuring cup into a bowl of pancake batter.
    1. Step 2: Pour in melted butter in a fine stream while mixing.

    1. Step 3: Add the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar, then whisk until the batter is mostly smooth with just a few small lumps.
Vanilla extract being poured from a small glass bowl into the pancake batter.
    1. Step 4: Add vanilla and whisk again until batter is uniform.
Four silicone molds filled halfway with pancake batter placed inside an air fryer basket, ready to cook.
    1. Step 5: Lightly spray 4-inch silicone molds with cooking spray, fill them halfway with batter, and place in the air fryer basket, adjusting the number to fit your air fryer.

    Helpful Tips

    • Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes before cooking to activate the baking powder and create fluffier pancakes.
    • Avoid soggy pancakes: After your pancakes come out of the air fryer, place them apart on a wire rack instead of stacking them to prevent them from getting soggy.
    • The first batch of pancakes may take a little longer to cook, but any other remaining batches might take a minute or two less because the air fryer is already hot.
    • If you want to be extra precise, use a measuring cup when pouring batter to ensure equal amounts in each silicone disc.
    • Don’t overfill the molds—fill only halfway to give the batter room to rise and cook through evenly.
    • Pair with sides: These pancakes go great with my Air Fryer Omelette or crispy Air Fryer Bacon for a complete and satisfying breakfast.

    Recipe FAQs

Do I need to flip pancakes in the air fryer?

Nope! There’s no need to worry about flipping your pancakes in the air fryer. The air fryer circulates the hot air all around the pancakes, cooking them evenly on each side without the need to flip!

What can I use in place of the silicone molds in the air fryer?

Mini cake pans, foil cups, or oven-safe ramekins should all work in place of silicone molds. Just be sure to lightly grease if needed to prevent sticking.

Why aren't my pancakes cooking evenly?

If you’re having trouble with your pancakes not cooking evenly, the batter may be too thick or filled more than halfway in the silicone disc. Be sure to not overcrowd your air fryer basket and spread the batter evenly so that the pancakes cook completely throughout.

Can I use pancake mix instead of making my own batter?

Absolutely! You can use a store-bought mix, protein pancake mix, or homemade batter in the air fryer.

    Storage & Freezing Instructions

    Storage Instructions

To store leftover pancakes, place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. To reheat your pancakes, microwave for 15-20 seconds or until heated through.

    Freezing Instructions

To freeze leftovers, separate pancakes with parchment paper and store in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 350ºF for 3–4 minutes or warm in the microwave for 30–60 seconds with a damp paper towel on top.
