PREPARING THE ROAST
- Combine the salt, pepper, and garlic. Then, rub it all over the chuck roast.
- Place the roast in the Foodi cooking pot. Add the onion soup mix.
- Then, add the beer, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cook on high pressure for 50 minutes. Then, allow the Foodi to naturally release for 10 minutes before releasing the pressure. Remove the roast to a pan and shred it.
PREPARING THE SANDWICHES
- Place a rack inside the Foodi ensuring it sits above the liquid. Butter the inside of the rolls.
- Top each half with 1 slice of Provolone cheese. Select BROIL and check frequently until cheese is melted and rolls are browned to your liking.
- Remove rack from Foodi and return beef to Foodi pot.
- Allow meat to soak up juices until ready to serve.
WHERE DID THE FRENCH DIP SANDWICH ORIGINATE?
The sandwich gets its name from the French dip au jus, which is a French-style dipping sauce made with beef broth and spices.
The French dip sandwich is believed to have originated in Los Angeles at Philippe's Restaurant, which is still in operation today.
WHAT SHOULD I SERVE WITH A FRENCH DIP?
French Dip sandwiches are traditionally served with au jus and a side of horseradish sauce. They go great alongside roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, a simple green salad or chips.
HOW DO I STORE LEFTOVERS?
For best results, don't make up all of the sandwiches right away. Store the beef in a container in the fridge and assemble the sandwiches before you're ready to enjoy them.
The French dip meat also freezes well. Just place it in a freezer-safe container and it will last up to 6 months in the freezer.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO REHEAT THE BEEF?
Remember to save all that delicious juice leftover from the meat.
You can reheat the beef in the juice right in a pan on the stovetop or place it back in the Foodi and use the Saute function.
