The weather is warming up, we're spending more time at the lake and that means it's time to break out some of my favorite drink recipes we look forward to every summer here in Wisconsin.
And what better time to whip up a bucket of Brandy slush, than Memorial Day Weekend?!
WHAT IS BRANDY SLUSH?
Brandy slush is a combination of black tea-infused water, lemonade, orange juice and brandy that is frozen to a slushy consistency and then scooped into a glass and mixed with lemon-lime soda.
HOW TO MAKE WISCONSIN BRANDY SLUSH
For this classic Wisconsin slush, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Water
- Sugar
- Black tea bags
- Lemonade juice concentrate
- Orange juice concentrate
- Brandy
- Lemon lime soda-Sprite, 7up, or Sierra Mist
- Cranberries
- Orange slices
- Rosemary
The recipe is easy to follow, and you can make it with just a few simple ingredients. So gather your ingredients and let's make some delicious Wisconsin Brandy Slush!
- In a large pot, add water and sugar over medium-high heat. Whisk often while bringing to a boil, then remove from heat with sugar is dissolved.
- Add tea bags to sugar water and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
- Add lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, and brandy and stir well until combined.
- Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a gallon ice cream bucket, then cover the bucket with the lid and freeze for 12 hours.
When the slush is completely frozen, scoop out the brandy slush with an ice cream scoop.
Fill your glass half full with the slush. . .
. . .and then fill the rest of the glass with lemon lime soda.
Before serving, garnish the slush with fresh cranberries, orange slices and rosemary if desired. It really just dresses up the drink, don't you think?
CAN I MAKE BRANDY SLUSH AHEAD OF TIME?
Absolutely! In fact, it takes 12 hours in the freezer to even become a slush. However, you can make this slush up to 3 months ahead of time as long as you keep it in the freezer.
HOW MANY DRINKS DOES THIS SLUSH RECIPE MAKE?
This recipe is really great if you are having a BBQ, potluck or party. You can get up to 20 drinks out of one recipe.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO STORE BRANDY SLUSH?
The great thing about this Brandy slush is that you can keep it in the freezer until you are ready to make another glass.
Simply keep the lid on the ice cream bucket and keep it in the freezer. It can be stored for up to 3 months. Keep in mind that over time, it may lose some of its potency.

Wisconsin Brandy Slush
Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 black tea bags
- 12 ounces lemonade concentrate (thawed)
- 12 ounces orange juice concentrate (thawed)
- 3 cups brandy
- Lemon-lime soda like Sprite (7-Up or Sierra Mist)
- Cranberries (orange slices and rosemary for garnish (optional))
Instructions
- In a large pot, add water and sugar over medium-high heat.
- Whisk often while bringing to a boil. Remove from heat with sugar is dissolved.
- Add tea bags to sugar water and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
- Add lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, and brandy. Stir well until combined.

- Cover bucket with lid and freeze for 12 hours.
- When slush is completely frozen, fill a glass half full with brandy slush and half with lemon lime soda.

Notes
- The easiest way to scoop out your brandy slush is with an ice cream scoop.
- Add orange slices, fresh cranberries and rosemary to garnish your drink and add a bit of extra flavor.
- You can make this recipe ahead of time for a party, just place your slush in the freezer until ready to serve.
