    APPLE FRITTER CAKE TIPS

    • If you would like to try an alternative glaze option, try adding apple cider and cinnamon to the glaze for extra flavor!
    • It is best to wait until the cake is only slightly warm or has cooled down to room temperature before slicing. This way, the cake will hold together better.
    • Using a variety of apples can make this dessert even more interesting! Try to incorporate some tart and some sweet variations for that perfect balance of deliciousness!

HOW IS APPLE FRITTER CAKE DIFFERENT THAN TRADITIONAL APPLE CAKE?

Traditional apple cake is classic, moist, filled with apples and can be layered if you wish.

Apple Fritter Cake is all of those things as well, but has the characteristics of an apple fritter right from the bakery, incorporating a crunchy streusel topping and sweet vanilla glaze.

CAN I MAKE THIS CAKE AHEAD OF TIME?

Sure! In fact, sometimes after the cake has had a while to sit, the flavors taste even better! Kind of like casseroles and chili! 😉

You can eat this cake warm and then let it sit at room temperature and enjoy it later.

WHAT KIND OF APPLES SHOULD I USE FOR THIS CAKE?

Any kind of apple should do, but honeycrisp apples are especially great because of their versatile nature - the sweet-tart flavor and crisp texture make them wonderful for baking. They also hold their shape very well!

Some other good options include granny smith, pink lady, and gala apples.

WHAT'S THE QUICKEST WAY TO PEEL APPLES?

Peeling and chopping apples for baking recipes shouldn't feel as daunting as it often does. A y-shaped peeler or apple peeler & corer are great tools to use if you'd like to speed up the process!

HOW DO YOU STORE APPLE FRITTER CAKE?

Store the cake, covered, at room temperature, for up to 3-4 days.

This cake can also be kept in an airtight container and frozen for longer storage of up to two months. Let the frozen cake thaw overnight and then enjoy!

Absolutely too much butter for the topping as the cake overflowed. But it is really tasty. Next time I’ll only add half a cup of butter to the topping mixture.

I think there was too much butter for the topping mixture?
I did the cake in a 9x13 and it over flowed when cooking.
