Who's ready to swing into fall with a mug of delicious apple cider?

This cider is made right in the Ninja Foodi or Instant Pot and features fresh fruits and fall spices that will warm you up and make your home smell amazing, too!

ARE YOU NEW TO THE NINJA FOODI PRESSURE COOKER?

If you’re a new Ninja Foodi pressure cooker owner and are still getting used to the appliance as well as pressure cooker lingo, check out my Ninja Foodi Beginner’s Guide that offers 30+ pages of tips and tricks to help you master the Ninja Foodi and have you cooking with confidence in no time at all!

HOW TO MAKE APPLE CIDER IN THE NINJA FOODI

To make this fresh apple cider you'll need:

    • Apples
    • Oranges
    • Cinnamon sticks
    • Whole cloves
    • Brown sugar
    • Water
    Sliced apples and oranges

Start by adding the fresh sliced apples and oranges to the Ninja Foodi cooking pot.

WHAT APPLES ARE BEST TO USE IN APPLE CIDER?

You'll want to use a variety of apples for the best tasting cider - some tart, some sweet. I like to use a combination of Granny Smith, Gala and Honeycrisp.

Feel free to use whichever varieties appeal to you. Here are some ideas:

    • Sweet apples: Honeycrisp, Gala, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Cortland and Pink Lady
    • Tart apples: Granny Smith, Jonagold and Braeburn

DO I NEED TO USE ORANGES IN THE APPLE CIDER?

This is personal preference, but I feel the oranges really help balance out the apples and give it a nice twist of citrus. Feel free to peel the oranges first if you'd prefer less tartness.

Toss in the cloves and cinnamon sticks.

    Sprinkle in the brown sugar.

Place the pressure cooking lid on the Foodi, select HIGH PRESSURE for 15 minutes and then perform a quick release.

Using a potato masher, mash the fruits well.

Then pour the contents through a fine mesh strainer.

WHY DO I NEED TO STRAIN THE APPLE CIDER?

Straining the apple cider with a mesh strainer will be important to remove pulp, seeds, sticks, etc. You could also use cheesecloth, but it's a bit more difficult to manage.

Serve warm and feel free to garnish the cider with extra apple slices, cinnamon sticks and cloves.

    CAN YOU "SPIKE" APPLE CIDER?

For a delicious "adult" cider, you could add a splash of bourbon, vodka, whiskey or brandy.

CAN I MAKE THIS APPLE CIDER AHEAD OF TIME?

Yes, of course. Once the apple cider is made, you can store it in the fridge for four to five days. It's a great beverage to serve over the holidays because you can prep it ahead of time.

    CAN I FREEZE APPLE CIDER?

Yes you can. Cool the cider completely and store, in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to three months.
