CAKE MIX MUG CAKE TIPS

  • Mix the ingredients well. It's important to mix the ingredients thoroughly to ensure that the mug cake turns out evenly cooked. Use a small whisk or fork to combine the ingredients until the batter is smooth.
  • If you want your cake to be extra moist, mix in a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the mix before microwaving.
  • If you do not have a microwave-safe mug, use a small microwave-safe bowl instead.
  • Make sure to leave some room at the top of the mug for the mug cake to rise as it cooks. If you fill the mug too full, the mug cake may overflow or turn out uneven.
  • Since there are so few ingredients, this mug cake mix is great for gifting and care packages! Just place some mix in a decorative bag with the preparation instructions and gift it along with a nice new mug.

CAN THIS MUG CAKE BE MADE WITH ANY BOXED CAKE MIX?

The Angel Food cake mix actually provides the necessary ingredients that allows the mug cake to rise, so I would always make sure to include the box of Angel Food cake mix.

Now, for the other box of mix, feel free to use any cake mix you wish! Some other great options include red velvet, double chocolate, or caramel cake mix.

CAN I MAKE THIS MUG CAKE IN THE OVEN INSTEAD OF THE MICROWAVE?

While mug cakes are traditionally made in the microwave, you can bake them in the oven.

To do this, preheat your oven to 350°F and bake the mug cake in a small oven-safe dish for about 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO STORE THE CAKE MIX?
