Moist, delicious homemade quick bread with chunks of juicy apples and layers of brown sugar and cinnamon swirled throughout – drizzled with a sweet vanilla icing.


For the Bread

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2/3 cups sugar + 2 tablespoons, divided
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Glaze

  • 13 tablespoons milk, divided
  • 1 cup powdered sugar


For the Bread

  • Preheat oven to 350º Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare a bread pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Spray parchment paper with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, add chopped apples. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon over top.
  • Stir until apples are well-coated. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and 2/3 cup sugar together until fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and beat again until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Pour flour mixture into batter and beat.
  • Add 1/2 cup milk and mix until uniform throughout.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared bread pan.
  • Sprinkle half of the apples over top of batter and then half of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  • Pour remaining batter over top, then remaining apples and remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to rest for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.

For the Glaze

  1. Mix powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk in a small bowl.
  2. Slowly add more milk until glaze reaches your desired consistency.
  3. Drizzle over top of bread and serve.
