Color Changing Lemonade

Color Changing Lemonade in glass with lemon garnish

A magical, color-changing, slushy lemonade that will entertain and wow both children and adults.

  1. Place teabags in a large measuring glass with the strings and paper labels dangling outside of the container.
  2. Add the boiling water to the glass.
  3. Allow the teabags to steep (set in the water) for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Dispose of teabags and allow liquid to cool.
  5. Pour liquid into ice cube trays (I was able to fill four trays).
  6. Place in the freezer for 6-8 hours or until the liquid is frozen.
  7. Pop the “blue” cubes out of the trays.
  8. Use a blender or food processor to crush the ice cubes (Don’t crush the cubes too fine – it’s best to have varying sizes of ice chunks).
  9. Fill glasses a little under halfway full with regular crushed ice.
  10. Top with “blue” crushed ice.
  11. Pour lemonade into each of the glasses.
  12. Top with additional “blue” crushed ice.
  13. Add a slice of lemon for garnish.
  14. Use a straw or spoon to briefly “mix” the drink for a colored effect.
