To make hot chocolate in the Ninja Foodi, you’ll need:
- Heavy whipping cream
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Vanilla extract
- Milk chocolate chips
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Making hot chocolate in either the Ninja Foodi is super easy. Like, you really can’t screw this up, easy.
Begin by combining all of the ingredients in the Ninja Foodi cooking pot.
Select Sear/Sauté on the Foodi and cook on HIGH for about 15 minutes, stirring often, until the chocolate chips are melted.
It will look just like this – dreamy and perfect.
Turn the heat to LOW on the Foodi to keep the hot chocolate warm – now, just start serving up mugs of this goodness.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COCOA & HOT CHOCOLATE?
I always thought cocoa and hot chocolate were basically the same thing. . .but I learned over the years, they’re not. Cocoa is normally made from cocoa powder, sugar and milk.
Hot chocolate has a thicker texture and gets its sweetness from the chocolate that’s mixed into it, rather than sugar itself.
WHAT TOPPINGS SHOULD I ADD TO HOT CHOCOLATE?
Oh gosh, the options are endless. Here are a few things to try:
WHAT CAN I MIX WITH HOT CHOCOLATE?
Hot chocolate is delicious on its own but if you’re looking for some sweet mix-in options, you could add a variety of flavored liqueurs to turn it into more of an “adult” drink or mix in some peanut butter, flavored coffee creamers or spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to liven it up!
WHAT CAN I SUBSTITUTE FOR HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM?
If you don’t have heavy whipping cream, you could either substitute half and half or just replace it with more milk. The hot chocolate will still be tasty – you just may lose some of the richness and thickness of the hot chocolate.
